Web Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve closing table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest players in the world. While gambling on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amount. I think tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found playing net poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in high stakes omaha/8 and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
