The Importance of Poker Position
Hold’em is simply about players and seating. All experienced Holdem players agree that seating in no boundary Holdem is critically essential. Showing your hole cards in late spot will be much more profitable than in early poker position. This is because much more information is collected right before acting.
For example, I played in a $1-$2 no limit cash match at a local casino. I came in with 2, 9 unsuited on the croupier button, so I could see a bit of excitement. Flop came down A-A-4. A player in starting position made a fifteen dollar bet. Two players fold and it was now my turn. I really should have folded, but his action seemed a tiny bit off. I labeled this contender as a weak-tight guy, and usually if he had the best hand he would only check, so I called.
The turn showed with a 7, meaning it was a A-A-4-7. My opposer placed another bet of $20. I deliberated a tiny bit, but made a decision to re-raise an additional $30thirty dollars on top of his twenty dollars. He dropped out and I won the cash.
Betting at late position allows you an idea where you stand by seeing how other entrants behave and wager. On the other hand, players at starting spot could use their poker position to check-raise the late seated aggressors and corner them later at the end. In Hold’em, each ends, late and early must be bet cautiously.
