No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative comments from others kill his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. He knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
