No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative feedback from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil started playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
